If
hectic is good in business terms, then George Fraser's
business is doing very well indeed. A mechanic all his
working life, George set up his company after leaving
his native Derby and working for a spell as head mechanic
at London main dealer, Alan Day.
That was thirteen years ago and his company has since
gone from strength to strength, gradually taking over
more and more of the neighbouring units in the industrial
estate.

"I've
still got a
passion for Mercedes.
If I didn't, I might as well close the doors."

For
George the main pull is still the cars and getting his
hands dirty on the shop floor. The demands of running
the business during the day mean he's often to be found
burning the midnight oil, just to get a moments peace.
George and his colleagues work on all aspects of modern
and older Mercedes, bar bodywork, which is sub-contracted
to a trusted, local bodyshop, and a wide variety of
cars make it through the door.
By
avoiding the impersonal nature of large, franchised
dealerships, George aims to give a personal touch and
hide nothing from his customers. He has got an open
door policy so if you want to stand and watch, you can
stand and watch! The only precursor to having your car
serviced by George is that it needs to have a three-pointed
star on the bonnet.
